On the first day of Christmas my sweetie asked for his favorite holiday treat...
I love making cookies with the family. The kitchen is the happening place at this time of the year. I make the cookie dough the day before to give it time to firm up. Then with the Christmas music playing in the background, I call the family to duty. I typically roll the dough and the others decorate. There are big cookies and little ones. Some are very artistic cookies and some really silly looking ones. Through it all there are smiles and laughter—that’s the magic ingredient.
And one of my family’s favorite treats is…
M&M Holiday Pretzels
48 to 50 pretzel squares
48 to 50 Hershey Kisses (note: the filled Kisses don’t work very well for this)
1 big bag of M&M's (holiday assortment)
1. Preheat oven to 275°
2. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Align the pretzels, side-by-side. They can touch. I always squeeze as many as I can on a tray.
4. On each pretzel place a candy kiss.
5. Place in over for 3 minutes or until chocolate is just soft. Be careful not to leave in too long.
6. Press one holiday M&M’s in the top of each softened kiss.
7. You can place in the fridge or freezer for chocolate to firm up. I keep mine in the freezer as the family likes their chocolate firm. ;-)

About the AuthorRebecca E. Neely was born and raised in a small town in western Pennsylvania. Her father, an English teacher and a writer, instilled in her a love of words, and literature, especially short stories, at a young age. Her mother, a voracious reader, gave her Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild as a Christmas gift when she was nine, and Rebecca’s been hooked on reading stories of all stripes ever since.
Rebecca’s family also owned and managed a restaurant until she was about sixteen, and she grew up in the business, working, cooking, and eating. Rebecca enjoys finding, and reading new authors via her Kindle. Live music inspires her, as do the characters she's blessed to have in her life, including her daughter, her boyfriend, and her mother. She loves drawing, crafting, walking, and camping. She also enjoys traveling, going to music festivals, and exploring cities she’s never been to before with her daughter.
In a former life, she earned a B.S. in Accounting, and worked in that field for about a decade. Since 2001, Rebecca has freelanced, writing a wide variety of copy for local magazines, and businesses all over the country.
