Hearts & Scribbles

My Friday Read...

With my two upcoming books out the door and now a synopsis completed for Angelo and Kayla's story, I'm enjoying a little sunshine and reading time. *big happy smile*

And this week I'm reading a new to me author, Terri Osburn. I picked up the first book in her Anchor Island series, MEANT TO BE. I'm only a 1/3 of the way through it and I must admit that I'm intrigued to know what the one brother is up to in the book. I'm usually really good a guessing but the way this is written, things could go either way and I love that. I'm also really enjoying the secondary characters that bring the island to life.

And that's all I'm going to tell you because I don't want to ruin the book for you. If you're looking for a good book to read this weekend, then definitely give this book a try. ;-)

Sometimes the next best thing is what you’ve been looking for all along…

Beth Chandler has spent her whole life pleasing others. She went to law school to make her grandparents happy. She agreed to marry her workaholic boyfriend, Lucas, to make him happy. And, despite her fear of boats, she took a ferry to see Lucas’s parents just to make them happy.

While suffering through a panic attack on the ferry, Beth meets a tall, sexy stranger who talks her down from her fear—and makes her heart flutter in the process. Soon, she has a new reason to panic: her gorgeous, blue-eyed rescuer is Lucas’s brother, Joe. But could she ever leave her fiancé for his own brother…even if Lucas is more focused on making partner than on making their relationship work…and even if Joe turns out to be everything she never knew she wanted?

Filled with excitement and delight, Meant to Be is the story of a young woman torn between urban pressures and small-town pleasures.

My Friday Read

I know I haven't posted My Friday Read in a while and that's because instead of reading I was writing. I'm just finishing up an Italian brother duet, due out the Spring of 2015, and then I'll be back reading like crazy as I'm hoping to have a little summer break. Squee!

But in the few spare moments I have, I've started following The Chatsfields series. Have you checked it out yet? You really should. I'm hooked. :-)

But before we get to that I wanted to give you an update:

THE RETURN OF THE REBEL blog tour (grand prize $25 Amazon gift card):

You can find the prior blog tour stops HERE.

And now on with My Friday Read. So far I've read:

FYI, when I made this post this novella was FREE on Amazon!

Introducing The Chatsfield in this fantastic prequel, USA TODAY bestselling author Melanie Milburne invites you to step inside the world's most exclusive luxury hotel empire!

Where secrets lurk behind every door…

A whisper, a rumor, a scandal!

Glitz, luxury and decadence—Juliet Montague should be having the time of her life. Her friend's hen party is being held at the extravagant Chatsfield Hotel, London, but when she is surrounded by perfect, ultra-stylish women, each with rings on their fingers, a fake fiancé seems her only defense.

Until that very same fake fiancé arrives at the party! Now she must persuade Marcus Bainbridge, her older brother's gorgeous best friend, not to give the game away. But as the charade deepens, will the lines between what's real and what's fantasy start to blur?

Welcome to The Chatsfield, London! - Collect all 8 fantastic titles - May–December 2014

This so far is my favorite book in the series. I thought the sheikh was quite gentleman and I swooned. :-)

FYI, at the time I created the post this book was on sale for $1.99 on Amazon.

When the Sheikh comes to town…

Sheikh Sayed of Zeena Sarha and his harem of beautiful women are staying at the exclusive, opulent Chatsfield Hotel, London, for the last stop on his worldwide tour before his wedding. But when his engagement is unceremoniously broken, Sayed sets his sights on his sexy chambermaid!

Liyah Amari only took the position as chambermaid to find the truth about her birth father. But her search ends in heartache, leaving Liyah vulnerable to this powerful Sheikh's desires. Now their one night of passion could result in a scandalous consequence for the proud Sheikh!

I'll be honest, with this one I wasn't so sure about it at first, but the more I read the more I liked Lucca and by the end, he'd totally won me over. :-)

When the Chatsfield heir comes to play…

Lucca Chatsfield has one simple motto: no rings, no strings. Adored wherever he goes, he has yet to meet a woman who can resist him. Until he's sent to the small principality of Preitalle and meets his greatest challenge ever….

Poised and polished, princess Charlotte does not do drama. The very last person she needs interfering in her life is this reckless playboy! Lottie is determined to resist Lucca's seduction, but his charm is potent, and practically perfect Lottie finds herself risking everything for just one more touch….

And this leads us to My Friday Read...

When the gentleman places his bet…

As the darling of London's party scene, Cara Chatsfield isn't surprised when her father's CEO sends her to Las Vegas to host The Chatsfield's world-famous poker tournament. And if behind the glitz and glamour there's a girl hurt by her past? She'll never tell.

Aidan Kelly detests women like Cara, but when his biggest rival includes Cara in the stakes, Aidan must win—and not just for her protection! But getting to know the stunning socialite, he discovers a beautiful, vulnerable young woman awoken by his own personal brand of passion!

My Friday Read...

It's spring fever and I've been reading up a storm while the April showers beat against the roof and windows.

And this week I have two more wonderful books to report in on:

First up, is a new to me author, Marie Force.

MAID FOR LOVE is the first book in the McCarthys of Gansett Island Series. And right now it is FREE on Amazon. ;-)

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I loved how Mac was a total gentleman and was more than willing to step up to the plate. And Maddie was a fun character, who has vulnerabilities that are relatable. A sweet, romantic tale. And I'm looking forward to book #2, FOOL FOR LOVE.

Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, a place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly rumors. Then she’s knocked off her bike on the way to her housekeeping job at McCarthy’s Resort Hotel by Gansett’s “favorite son,” Mac McCarthy. He’s back in town to help his father with preparations to sell the family resort and has no intention of staying long. When Mac accidentally sends Maddie flying over the handlebars, badly injuring her, he moves in to nurse her back to health and help care for her young son. He soon realizes his plans for a hit-and-run visit to the island are in serious jeopardy, and he just may be “maid” for love.

The second book I read this week was THE BRIDGE by the talented Carol Ericson. It is the first book in a new series, Brody Law. It was a great read. Definitely a page turner. Carol kept me guessing the whole way through of who the serial killer was and wondering about the sexy detective's past. ;-) Definitely can't wait for the next book, THE DISTRICT.

His past is coming back to haunt him, and only one woman can bring this detective the redemption he needs in Carol Ericson's new miniseries, Brody Law.

Under the Golden Gate, Elise Duran refused to be a serial killer's next victim. She was the first of the abducted to survive. And Detective Sean Brody was there to make sure a second chance wouldn't be necessary.

As the elusive murderer sends them messages, both personal and gruesome, the point becomes clear: no one can escape death. But Sean's presence can't be any stronger as he shadows Elise while on the job—and off it—proving she couldn't have asked for a better protector. Though beneath his cool exterior Sean hides a troublesome secret. One that's absolutely to die for…

Until next week, happy reading!!!

My Friday Read...

It was another great week where I was able to squeeze in some reading. And I enjoyed it immensely. My TBR pile is still extremely backlogged, but I don't think that'll change no matter how many I read because there's that many more fabulous books to add to the pile. ;-)

And this week I have two more wonderful books to report in on:

First up, is a new to me author, Victoria Parker.

THE WOMAN SENT TO TAME HIM is an excellent read with tons of emotion and steam. Finn St. George is drool worthy but he has a secret he's harboring and it's destroying him on the inside. Hence Serena Scott comes on the scene to keep Finn from falling apart and to keep him winning races, but when things start to happen between them all bets are off.

Resistance is futile!

Serena Scott knows that Finn St. George is trouble with a capital T. Gorgeous? Yes. World-class racing driver? Yes. Shameless lothario bent on self-destruction? Definitely! But Finn has finally caused one scandal too many—and Serena is charged with getting him back on track!

Finn loves his playboy lifestyle; after all, immersing oneself in beautiful women is much more pleasurable than raking over the bitter truths of the past. Serena's unheard-of—and infuriating—resistance to his charms begins a battle of wills. Can she tame this bad boy, or will Serena become entangled in the sensual power of his hedonistic temptation?

And the next book I had the pleasure of reading is the second book in the NYC Angels series: HEIRESS'S BABY SCANDAL. This book had great characters that I really cared about. And Tyler Donaldson is the sexiest New York City cowboy. ;-) I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series.

The socialite and the Texan doc—is this for real?

After gossip headlines announce that reluctant socialite Eleanor Aston is in a "relationship" with smooth-talking Texan Tyler Donaldson, for one glorious night this fake fling becomes fact, not fiction! Devoted nurse Eleanor knows she's in over her head with neonatal doc Ty—and that's before the paparazzi discover her baby bombshell!

Until next week, happy reading!!!

My Friday Read...

Hi. I'm very excited that My Friday Read is back and humming along. I've been reading every day and loving it. So we have to play a little catch up with my TBR pile which is extremely backlogged.

As such, I have two great books to report in on:

First up, is a debut by a very talented writer, Janie Crouch.

PRIMAL INSTINCT is a page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I know I was on the edge of mine for most of it. This book had likable characters, an engrossing story line and lots of chemistry. I highly recommend it. :-)

A killer stalks the city streets, and one FBI agent is determined to bring him down in Janie Crouch's Primal Instinct.

On the crowded streets of San Francisco, a serial killer watches and waits. Known only as "Simon Says," he lures his next victim while the FBI grasps for answers. Desperate, they turn to Adrienne Jeffries. Adrienne has an uncanny talent for getting inside the city's most dangerous minds. But first she'll have to get past FBI agent Conner Perigo. Skeptical of Adrienne's abilities, Conner begrudgingly enlists her help…unprepared for the powerful attraction that could jeopardize their focus. With little time, and everything to lose, they must work to find Simon's next victim—before he does.

And the other book I read was the final book in the Willow Creek, Texas series by Linda Warren. I've must admit that I was curious about how Linda was going to wrap up this series and she did not disappoint.

A TEXAS CHILD has a tall, sexy hero by the name of Levi Coyote and the heroine, Myra, is definitely his equal. And the danger they face while trying to help a critically mother be reunited with her stolen baby will keep your stomach in knots as you flip through the pages, hoping for a happy resolution and having no idea how they will pull it off. Thankfully there's a HEA. ;-)

To save a child

Regret. Assistant District Attorney Myra Delgado knows all about it. She's spent seven years regretting a foolish betrayal of her ex, Levi Coyote. But now Myra needs Levi, a private investigator, and the stakes are bigger than their history—a baby has been kidnapped. And only Myra is brave enough—or crazy enough—to go after a Mexican drug lord and attempt a rescue.

Levi might not be able to forgive her, but he can't let Myra face the danger alone. As they work to save an innocent child, he learns a shocking truth about their shared past. If they make it through this, he and Myra just might get a second chance at not only love, but family.

Until next week, happy reading!!!
